^ your character could have something similar, maybe they just love fighting and joined the corps for fun, or maybe they're extremely empathetic and joined the corps so innocent lives wouldn't be lost, even though they didn't lose someone themselves. however Oyakata-sama told her to take her insecurities and make it her strength, with muscles 8 times as dense, a flexible body and having to eat as much as a sumo wrestler, she's one of the strongest demon slayers and has saved many lives just by accepting who she is. Take Mitsuri for example, all she wanted was a love life but she was insecure about herself and even changed her look just to please others. of course, you don't have to necessarily lose a loved one to a demon to know about the demon slayer corps. don't think you're being "basic/uncreative" if your character has lost a loved one to a demon, many of the canon demon slayers are like that, which is what made them join the demon slayer corps in the first place. Its the kny universe, a reality where creatures who eat human flesh exists.
In all honesty i myself am not the best at backstory making because i end up making it too "edgy" or "sad", but i have to realize that that's okay ! reminder that you can always skip to the next section, which in this case will be their personality :) Were going straight to the backstory because as we all know, your past has a huge impact on your present/future self, especially when it comes to your strength and personality, so you should have at least a rough idea on your oc's backstory so you can form their current personality/other traits. take Gyomei as an example, just like Muichirou he's been training for only 2 months, yet he's the oldest out of everyone (even older than Ubuyashiki !) Of course, just because they're a prodigy doesn't mean they have to be as young as Muichirou. if they're a lower rank they could be of any age (but not too young) but if a Hashira they should be older unless they're a prodigy like Muichirou, as making your own breath style takes 5 years of practicing and 2 years for the overall training of becoming a demon slayer. Their age should depend on their rank and when they joined the demon slayer corps.

My personal tip is naming my OC after what they remind me of. you can search up japanese names and surnames online, they are usually written in kanji and spoken out loud in hiragana ! the names can be anything you like, although preferably japanese unless your OC is another ethnicity. This is for those who plan to make an oc but don't actually have one yet.
Most of these tips are about demon slayer ocs instead of demon ocs, but there are some points which are about all ocs in general. There will also be manga spoilers in this blog so be warned !! these are just my personal opinions to add more flair to your OC ! these are suggestions, not rules you don't have to add them if you don't want to.

After revamping my OC's wiki i just got the urge to make this, hopefully this'll help those of you reading this !Ī little disclaimer i'm definitely not a pro at oc making, i've only been making them since 2016 (excluding those self inserts when i was 8).
